Incredible experience. We got a campground spot near the Tye river, and the sound of water helped me sleep so soundly. The owners were very nice and helpful, and their little general store was very useful for getting the little stuff we forgot. My girlfriend and I will definitely be returning next year!
This is probably one of the best campgrounds I have been to. We stayed in site 31, which is right by the water and absolutely beautiful. Do not worry about bringing firewood; they offer generous size pieces for a very decent price. If you walk to the falls to hike be very careful, there is not much room off the side of the road, and people fly. Overall awesome experience! My wife, dog, and I can't wait to come back!
We stayed there last year, it was very beautiful and we wanted to come back, despite the fact that it rained most of the time we were here. We scheduled a trip back this year, but had a family emergency and couldn't make the trip. Was very disappointed that they wouldn't work with me on the deposit to at least move it to another weekend and told me they had rules..which I understood. Which is why I wasn't asking for a full refund, just an opportunity to push my deposit towards another weekend to camp. They were extremely rude on the phone and will not come back here again. There are many other campsites where the owners treat you with respect and value the campers.
This place is a great, small, family run campground with amazing views of the river. We stayed in 27 and would absolutely come again! It is in a VERY remote area. Neither of us had cell reception. Being a gay interracial couple from the city in the middle of rural Virginia, we were a little nervous, but everyone was kind. They could work on cleaning the bathrooms a bit more (don't like showering with spiders), but nothing that would keep us away.
*Be aware there is little to no cell service here (that was one of my favorite parts!!) I had no issue with that but my husband made me aware before we left for this trip so we made arrangements for it. If I would have been unaware I would have been a nervous wreck since I left my pets at home/in boarding.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
Stayed here with my family as a kid and loved it then, I love it more now that I have now been here with my husband and son. We had a wonderful time! This campground is BEAUTIFUL, clean, quiet and family friendly. The owners were very nice and the facilities were very convenient! We will be back for sure. Can't wait to camp here again!
